Martin Luther KingJr., was a Baptist minister and social rights activist in the United States in the 1950s and ’60s. As a leader of the American civil rights movement, he organized a number of peaceful protests as head of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference, including the March on Washington in 1963.

    • Drawing Paper. This is the good stuff you can buy in bulk for a good price.
    • Pencils. I like how this brand always makes nice dark lines.
    • Black Marker. A permanent marker will give you a dark black color.
    • Crayons. The larger packs are nice for more color choices.

    Time needed: 1 hour

    How to Draw Martin Luther King

    1. Make guidelines. Draw an oval.

    2. Add the neck and the shoulders.

    3. Draw two eyes.

    4. Add nose, mouth and ears.

    5. Add hairline over the top of his head.

    6. Lower the front hairline a bit, add moustache.

    7. Erase head line, and draw a collar.

    8. Add a tie and jacket. Write name at the top.

    9. Trace with a marker and color with crayons.
