Martin Luther King Coloring Page

Now students can add their own ideas to a Martin Luther King Coloring Page with this easy to use template. The silhouette art can be the start of so many different portraits.

Each year on the third Monday of January, Martin Luther King, Jr. Day is observed. Many take this day as a time to reflect on the work that still needs to be done for racial equality. This Martin Luther King coloring page is an easy way to create some special art to commemorate the life of this iconic figure in our American history.

The coloring page download below offers two versions of the Martin Luther King Jr art. One page is made with grayscale art, and one with solid black. The gray scale is good for printing on paper and then coloring in black with a marker. The black page is good for using with tracing paper. Print the art on a copy paper, place a sheet of tracing paper over it, and students can trace what looks to be more of a hand drawn image of Martin Luther King Jr. The above art was made that way with a giant coffee filter, permanent Sharpie marker, and watercolor paint.

Regardless of how you color the art, there’s lots of room to add extra words, if students so choose. If you come us with a new combination of materials, please email them to me so I can share your inspiration with others!
