Why draw a Reindeer Face?
When students learn how to draw animals, the usual approach is to draw, trace and then color everything in. This how to draw a Reindeer Face project adds a little twist or two. Namely adding some black on white texture lines on the face and then a colorful sweater below.
The concept is rather simple, as students will probably see. The reindeer starts with some easy shapes and then the sweater can be whatever little bit of fashion they might dream up. The contrast of the two, one lots of color and one not, makes for a very interesting drawing.
Please remember that if students like the orderliness of the small lines on this sample drawing, and want to create the same effect, it does take time. They can use the brow line to help them get started with their rows, and then just continue until the areas are filled in. Changing the closeness of the lines will also help them make the fur look either darker or lighter.

- Eraser. Large ones you can hold in your hand do a much better job than just the pencil tips. Stabilo Markers. They have the best colors, the best tips, and last the longest.
- Black Sharpie Marker. These fine point permanent markers are great for making a crisp outline to your drawing. Use them when you want your outline show up, but not be so heavy that it detracts from other things.
