When students learn how to draw Oggie Boogie from “The Nightmare Before Christmas” film, they can add it to their Jack and Sally and Zero collection too.
One of the most feared characters from the movie is Oogie Boogie, the boogeyman of Halloween Town. He is both mysterious and sinister with a unique and memorable design. With his burlap sack body, glowing eyes, and menacing grin, he has become an instantly recognizable figure in pop culture.
This Oggie Boogie tutorial will show students how to draw him, starting with his head, adding eyes, a giant mouth, and sack like body. As with the Jack and Sally and Zero drawings, a simple marker drawing on kraft card stock paper, colored with white colored pencil, will give him that Tim Burton style and look!

Oggie Boogie Coloring Page
Materials for a Oggie Boogie Drawing
- Paper. Card stock paper that has a light gray or brown shade for an old-fashioned black and white look.
- SOFT Pencils. Important: Ticonderoga #2 SOFT pencils will always give you the darkest gray. Collect them and then save for all your drawing projects. The #2 Mediums will not work as well, no matter how hard you press.
- White Pencil Crayon. Prismacolor cost a little more than the others, but they always leave the brightest color. That’s especially true for the white ones.
- Eraser. Large ones you can hold in your hand do a much better job than just the pencil tip erasers, especially when erasing leftover pencil lines after tracing.

Draw Oggie Boogie Step by Step
- Start the head with an upside down V shape.
- Finish with two edges and a curve.
- Add the bottom lip shape below.
- Draw the lines on the lip.
- Add two eyes and the end of the hat.
- Add eyebrows and erase the gray inside.
- Draw the simple body with arms and legs.
- Add seam and stitch lines.
- Trace with a marker and fill with colored pencils.
Add a background of bats, if you want.
